In December 2025, John Springer embarked on a several-week adventure to the Aysen Region of Chile’s Patagonia, both in a backcountry and front-country setting. He took part in a backpacking expedition through Patagonia National Park getting to both create and teach watercolor to accompanying participants. John then spent a prolonged stint on the shores of Lago General Carrera, painting in oil his surroundings in a collective series.
